Carrie Chang

Founder, Floral Lab
Award winner Carrie Chang founded Floral Lab in 2007 with the intention to bring an artist's perspective to floral design.
"I want to do for flowers what your interior designer does for your home, what your personal chef does for your cuisine. fine arts floral design is another kind of beauty that can both decorate a space and speak to the senses."

Susan Nock

Owner, Thistle
Thistle - Susan Nock Garden Design is based in Wellesley, Massachusetts, and serves the surrounding metro-west Boston area.  We specialize in residential garden design and custom container gardens for homes and businesses.
Susan Nock, owner of Thistle, is an award-winning container garden designer whose work has won Garden Gate Magazine’s 2024 Container Garden Challenge and the “best container gardener” award by the Massachusetts Landscape and Nursery Association in 2022. You can see her work featured in Garden Gate magazine, New England Home magazine, Wellesley Weston Magazine, Gardenista, and other publications. Gretel Anspach

Gretel Anspach is a data-driven, retired systems engineer who brings an engineer’s precision to every horticultural endeavor. A mathematics graduate of MIT, she spent her career at Raytheon before channeling her analytical mindset into the world of horticulture. She currently serves as a trustee of Massachusetts Horticultural Society and is a Lifetime Master Gardener, recognized with MMGA’s 2016 Lifetime Achievement Award.
With over two decades of experience in food pantry gardening, Gretel first led Raytheon’s company garden initiative, then went on to independently establish and maintain a 20,000-square-foot production garden serving the Marlborough and Maynard food pantries.
Gretel is known for demystifying the science behind gardening, combining her background in math and systems thinking with a passion for sharing knowledge. Her work bridges the gap between data and dirt—proving that logical thinking and healthy soil can grow more than just plants.

She holds the rank of Riji (highest rank) from the Sogetsu School. She teaches regular classes at her studio at home and also at the Massachusetts Horticultural Society. She regularly conducts workshops for the Sogetsu School of Massachusetts. On a yearly basis, she has made the Ikebana stage installation for the Japanese Emperor’s Birthday Reception at the Massachusetts State House.
