On March 4 at 1:30 PM Steve Hootman, Executive Director & Curator of the Rhododendron Species Foundation and Rhododendron Species Botanical Garden will give a presentation titled “Plants, people & scenery from the Himalayas, China, Vietnam & Papua New Guinea, including new plant introductions & new species”. This travelogue will present highlights of several of his recent plant exploration trips to Asia. In addition to his encounters with members of the genus Rhododendron, many other genera will be included.
Steve has worked at the Rhododendron Species Foundation (RSF) since 1992. The RSF, located in Washington state, contains over 700 species of the 1000 species, and is possibly the world’s largest public collection of rhododendron species in one place. Steve is a well-known plant explorer, author and lecturer, and expert on the genus Rhododendron. He regularly goes on expeditions to study species in their natural habitats.
This illustrated lecture will be given in the Parkman Room of the Education Building at Elm Bank, 900 Washington St., Wellesley, MA. Sponsored by the Massachusetts Chapter of the American Rhododendron Society, this lecture is free and open to the public.
