Identifier, #384-1 : Wild Columbine, or Aquilegia Canadensis, drawn by Isaac Sprague (1811-1895), from botanist George Goodale’s Wild Flowers of America, which was published, containing 50 plates, in Boston in between 1876 and 1882. The lithographer was Armstrong & Company. The Massachusetts Horticultural Society is fortunate to own the complete book.
Sprague was born in Hingham, Massachusetts and was America’s best known botanical illustrator of his day.
