If you are planning a funeral reception or memorial service for a loved one, The Gardens at Elm Bank offer a private, beautiful estate setting. The Gardens at Elm Bank are located on the 36-acre Cheney Estate in Dover, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The gardens are a place of beauty, discovery, and quiet reflection.

Our Memorial Spaces

Hunnewell-Carriage-HouseHunnewell Building

The Hunnewell Building features a 3,000 square foot great hall with exposed original vaulted and trussed ceiling. It offers a large catering kitchen along with a full complement of tables, chairs, and other event furnishings. An attached three-season tent completes a perfect venue for symposia, lectures, weddings, charitable benefits, and other public events. Both structures can accommodate approximately 225 guests for a sitdown dinner or 400 for a standing reception.

Italianate-Garden The Italianate Garden 

The Italianate Garden is a formal garden surrounded by a beautiful copper beech hedge with a central fountain. White garden chairs are used in this garden for ceremonies or receptions. This historic garden was designed by the Olmsted Brothers firm, 1914-1928.




Maple-GroveThe Maple Grove 

The Maple Grove is a 140 feet x 140 feet grassy area in the heart of our gardens. It is a beautiful setting that accommodates a tent of almost any size.




Jim-Crockett-Memorial-GardenThe James Crockett Memorial Garden

This intimate garden welcomes a small group of up to 50 people.
