Massachusetts Horticultural Society (Mass Hort) is expanding and enhancing our spectacular public garden destination in MetroWest/Greater Boston in support of our educational mission. We want you to be on the ground floor of its planning! Join us as we develop the Master Plan for this beautiful place. Over half of our fundraising goal has been reached in a quiet campaign. We invite you to join us and help us with reach our goal!

Our Vision

Mass Hort plans to create a spectacular public garden where people of all ages and backgrounds can enjoy and connect with the natural world.

Our home: The Gardens at Elm Bank

Our beautiful 36-acre property, The Gardens at Elm Bank, is located along the banks of the Charles River in Dover, just 30 minutes from downtown Boston. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, we have historic and contemporary gardens.

Need for a Master Plan

The Master Plan will guide our future efforts to restore historic gardens on the property, improve and add visitor amenities such as a café, visitors center, gift shop, farm to table restaurant, and assess the restoration of our Manor House. It will set the foundation to grow a spectacular garden with sustainable best practices.

The Master Plan will provide the resources and infrastructure for our educational mission for the 21st Century. Our goal is to continue to offer and more fully develop powerful public education programs about contemporary issues: the environment, sustainability, health, and stewardship of our natural world.

We have hired Kyle Zick and his team from KZLA to develop the plan. We need help and participation with final funding phase of this exciting project.

Your Impact

At Mass Hort our mission is to engage people in plants, gardens and the natural world.  As a charitable organization, we cannot do this without the support of friends, donors, members, and people like you. If you have visited the gardens, admired them from the soccer fields, walked along the property, or have not yet visited—we hope you’ll support us!

Your support will make The Gardens at Elm Bank a place where people can enjoy the beauty of the gardens, picnic on the open lawns, and walk along paths for both physical and mental health. We hope you share our passion for the natural environment and will invest in our future along with many other individuals and foundations.

Thank you so much!

Kathy
