New England Unit of the Herb Society presents 'Beyond the Avocado"
Wednesday, October 05 2011, 10:15am - 12:00pm

Deb Peterson will present 'Beyond the Avocado' or how to grow exotic indoor plants from their pits.

Some of the plants described for growing indoors include: papaya, tamarind, taro, ginger and fenugreek.  Each of the plants requires a slightly different technique to germinate.

Deborah Peterson, a founder of the Rare Pit & Plant Council and the editor of their newsletter /The Pits/ for 25 years, has contributed to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden Handbooks and lectured extensively on gardening with pits, among other gardening topics. Deborah is the proprietor of Landmark Landscaping and has landscaped and designed many gardens and private parks in NYC and Massachusetts.
Deb has been a member of the Herb Society of America since 1986 and a member of the New England Unit (NEU) since 1998.

For the adventurous, there may be an excursion to one of the most interesting Asian groceries in Massachusetts after the talk and a dim sum lunch.

Cost: $5.00 for non-members of NEU/HSA
