In an era of town-wide watering bans and shockingly high water bills, it’s easy to say, ‘there goes the garden’. But there’s a great, ecologically sound alternative: the xeric garden (‘xeric’ from the Greek for ‘dry’). There are families of plants, and especially grasses, that are water sippers yet look great in your garden. There are also flowering shrubs and perennials that do quite nicely on what Mother Nature provides. Mike Nelson teaches agronomy and will show you how to use them.
All “Wednesday Evenings” talks begin at 7 p.m. and are held in the Education Building at Elm Bank. They end when the last question is answered.
The cost to Mass Hort members is $10 per talk or $50 for the series of ten (pricing for the Adrian Bloom talk is not yet determined). The charge for Non-Mass Hort members is $15 per talk. Refreshments and beverages are served at all talks. |
