There are many ways you can help MHS remain the horticultural beacon for the New England area. We need help in our gardens and in our office at Elm Bank. We also need help raising money to keep MHS strong. Below are the areas where your help is needed and whom you should contact to schedule volunteer time.

If you aren't sure how you can help, please fill out our Online Volunteer Form.

Upcoming Volunteer Opportunities

Bressingham Garden Planting Party Print E-mail

Mass Hort's wonderful volunteers, along with intern April Daley, have been doing a tremendous job sprucing up the Bressingham Garden. Weeds have been pulled, yards and yards of mulch spread, flowers deadheaded - it looks great. The irrigation system is nearly all repaired now and ongoing maintenance should be much easier.

Now it's time for the next step: add more plants to fill in the empty areas and complete the original design. Master garden designer Paul Miskovsky will be on hand with members of his own staff to lead as many volunteers as we can get in what should be an extremely satisfying effort. We will put plants in the ground, watch Paul demonstrate his pruning technique, and do some pruning and/or deadheading ourselves.

If you can only come out to Elm Bank to work in the Bressingham Garden once (or once more) this season, this is the time. Our volunteer "parties" have all been on Saturdays; this is a great opportunity for those who are busy on weekends. As usual, lunch will be served around noon.

Please plan to come at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, July 26. Parents are bringing in their kids for the Linx Summer Camp at 9 a.m., so we recommend waiting until they have cleared out! Bring your sunscreen, tools (including a shovel and sharp pruners if you have them), and a treat if you like. We will have water on hand and pizza for lunch.
