This past December, license agreements were signed to allow the Massachusetts Horticultural Society (MHS) to develop world-class gardens on the Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Greenway. Planting will begin in a few weeks and many volunteers, including landscape professionals, our members, master gardeners and greenway neighborhood groups have stepped forward to help. We have been fortunate to receive numerous plant donations and are growing over 4,000 plants in our greenhouses, but our greatest need is financial support.

Support and participation from MHS friends is crucial to the continuing success of the Greenway project. Our immediate priority is to raise $500K in the next few months which will help offset costs related to the building of the gardens, including plants, materials, an irrigation system as well as other related expenses. It is our hope to raise an additional $1.5 million within the next few years to establish an endowment, where the income will be used for upkeep and ongoing maintenance. These world-class gardens will give the Massachusetts Horticultural Society the opportunity and recognition it needs to enhance our reputation as one of the finest and oldest horticultural societies in the world.
