Thank you to all who attended this year's Flower Show! The 2009 New England Spring Flower Show will be held at the Bayside Expo Center from March 14-22, 2009. An annual rite of spring and one of Boston’s most enduring traditions, the New England Spring Flower Show has become the true symbol of spring’s arrival for almost 100,000 winter-weary New Englanders and Boston visitors. The show is now in its 138th year and has grown to be the third largest flower show in the world. The region’s most talented gardeners, designers and horticulturalists gather for nine days of breathtakingly beautiful exhibits, competitions, entertainment and information-sharing.
Show Highlights
Preview Party, Friday evening, March 13th The show’s elegant opening event features live music, dancing, a signature cocktail, and tours of the show at its freshest! For more information, click here. This year’s theme will be interpreted by over 40 landscapes and informational displays. Over 200 vendors will offer the best selection of plants, seeds, flowers, garden tools, outdoor furniture, landscape services and structures, and garden-related gift and artwork in the Northeast. For more information click here. The Flower Show’s historical roots are found in its amateur competition. Offering opportunities for individuals, garden clubs and plant societies to show off their best specimens and design skills, these divisions offer hundreds of prestigious awards and ribbons to the areas most talented gardeners. The free lectures and demonstrations at the Flower Show provide a wealth of information and cover a wide range of topics. There are many special events planned for this year's show. Directions to Bayside Expo Center The Bayside Expo Center is located just one mile south of downtown Boston with plenty of parking ($12 fee per car). From the South
Take Exit 14 from I-93, the Southeast Expressway. Stay in the right hand lane and follow Morrissey Boulevard. At your 3rd set of lights take a right onto Mount Vernon Street. Follow the signs and take your 3rd left into the Bayside Expo Main Entrance. From the North and the West From points North and/or West take the Massachusetts Turnpike, Interstate-90 east to Interstate 93 South. Take Exit 15 (Columbia Road/UMass Exit) off of Interstate 93. Stay in the left-hand lane and take a left off of the ramp. Go ¾ of the way around the Rotary and bear right onto Day Blvd. Proceed past the Mass State Police Barracks and take your first right into the Bayside Expo North Entrance. Transit
As a convenient alternative, take the T or Commuter Rail. The MBTA Red Line and Old Colony (Plymouth/Kingston and Middleboro/Lakeville) Branch of the commuter rail system both stop at the UMass/JFK station directly across the street from us. A trolley will make continuous loops between the station and the South Entrance of the Bayside Expo Center. Handicapped Parking & Wheelchairs Bayside Expo Center has handicapped parking spaces available at both the North and South Entrances to the show. You are welcome to drop off passengers at either entrance. Wheelchairs will be available to borrow at the South Lobby on a first-come, first-served basis.
