What is the role of the Massachusetts Horticultural Society?
MassHort produces the annual New England Spring Flower Show, as it has for the past 134 years! This non-profit organization is committed to providing the public with sound horticultural information and inspiration, and the flower show is one of the ways we accomplish this. MHS works all year long to organize and coordinate the exhibits, events, and programs that make up the show. Flower show proceeds help fund other educational programs of the Society, including programs for children, courses for adult gardeners, and the Master Gardener HelpLine, a free call-in service for gardening questions and problems.
Can I plan a group visit to the show?
Clubs and groups are encouraged to contact our group ticketing office to make arrangements for tickets and to let us know of any special requests. We can provide information on parking for tour buses, arrange for admission for bus drivers or tour leaders, explain group tour programs, and even offer information about local restaurants or dining options within the show. Call 617-933-4923.
Should I bring my camera? What about video cameras?
You are welcome to capture digital and film images from the flower show. Disposable cameras, memory cards, film, batteries, and other equipment will be on sale from a vendor at the show, or you may bring your own. You are also welcome to bring a video camera. Tripods are strictly prohibited.
What do I do if I lose someone, or get separated from my group?
The show has designated the main entrance/exit (South Lobby) as the lost persons meeting place. Signs will be posted, and announcements will be made every hour to notify lost individuals to proceed to the main exit, where your party can regroup. Frequent announcements are disruptive to the show experience, and so lost person announcements are only made in the case of extreme emergency. It is a good idea to pick a memorable meeting place and make sure each member of your group knows its location.
Are there places to eat at the Bayside Expo Center?
Yes, Bayside Expo Center operates a variety of concession stands serving items such as hot dogs and hamburgers, sandwiches, grilled paninis and Mexican food, as well as a cafeteria and the Bayside Lounge, a full-service restaurant. The Bayside Lounge does not take reservations in advance.
Is the show wheelchair-accessible?
Yes. The show is arranged all on one level, and the Bayside Expo Center is wheelchair-accessible. A limited number of wheelchairs are available to borrow during your show visit on a first-come, first-served basis from the medical station in the South Lobby (main entrance).
