Peter Isberg - Running for Mass Hort
On Patriots Day in April, Massachusetts Horticultural Society will have a new reason to cheer on the runners as they pass through Wellesley. For the first time, Mass Hort has been chosen as a Boston Marathon Charity, and we will be represented by runner Peter Isberg. Peter has pledged to raise $4,000 for the Society.
He is a first time Marathon entrant who has been assigned to Mass Hort. Wellesley Selectmen, who manage the distribution of a set of Wellesley numbers, saw a good match between Pete's aspiration to support a local charity and Mass Hort's mission to make its gardens better known to the public, so it helped all parties to work together. Peter is committed to cross the finish line and to see that we benefit from his efforts.
Peter's 5 year old son Thomas attends Linx Camp held at Mass Hort/ Elm Bank during the summer, and Mr. Isberg and his wife Renee have run the grounds for several years. They are also frequent visitors to Society events, such as the Festival of Trees. He says that he was "happily surprised with the coincidence" when he found out that the Selectmen had chosen him to run for Mass Hort.
We've provided a picture of Pete, so that you can recognize him as he dashes by on Patriots Day.
